                        Every employee has the right to a safe and healthy working environment. At Airbus, we believe employee health and safety is our social responsibility and a critical driver of our success. We strive to achieve a zero-harm culture in the way we conduct our business—from our day-to-day work to our actions in the communities in which we operate.

                        Zero-harm culture: a mindset change in health & safety

                        Employee health and safety in the workplace is about more than preventing occupational accidents. At Airbus, we aspire to achieve a “zero-harm culture”: this mindset change aims to permanently and sustainably transform the way we think and act in regards to health and safety. And it applies to everyone impacted by our business—our employees, our suppliers, our communities and our customers. 

                         

                        To guide us on our journey to achieving a “zero-harm culture,” we have identified three main priorities for our employee health and safety approach:

                        • Protecting our people and the business from health and safety risks that could arise from our work activities
                        • Fostering a culture in which we all accept appropriate responsibility for ourselves and others
                        • Ensuring good management of work-related employee health, safety and well-being as an ethical and commercial imperative, and as a critical compliance matter

                        Nearly safe is not safe: employee safety at work

                        Our people are the lifeblood of our company. This is why ensuring their safety is our top priority. For us, “nearly safe is simply not safe”—a philosophy that guides our overall approach to employee safety at work. 

                         

                        Everyone who works either for or with us plays an important role in making Airbus a healthy and safe place to work. To create a workplace that respects employee health and well-being, we expect our people to take responsibility in three main areas:

                        • Complying with all employee safety rules and regulations relevant to their job
                        • Intervening to prevent unsafe conditions that could lead to health risks
                        • Respecting fellow workers and the communities in which we work

                        Employee well-being: preventing stress in the workplace

                        Employee health and safety goes beyond preventing physical harm. Mental health issues and stress-related disorders are also a major health concern—but ones that are often overlooked. 

                         

                        Our comprehensive well-being programmes for employees, which focus on work-related stress and risks, include the following:

                        • An alert system and network that enable our people to raise individual and collective issues of concern
                        • Availability of psychologists on site and/or by phone (in France, Germany, Spain and the UK)
                        • A multidisciplinary team in charge of prevention coordination, including occupational medicine specialists, psychologists, ergonomists, etc.
                        • Training to raise employee awareness of issues, including specific training for managers
